About!

Mercedes Mack is a curious and collaborative UX Designer with four years of experience designing digital products and helping organizations create strategic roadmaps that are achievable.

I have created, and handed off design assets to stakeholders at all phases of the design process (research, ideation and design).

Some notable projects include -

  • Created a design system for large-multinational, industrial parts manufacturer with a large family of brands.

  • Optimized a client’s self-service onboarding for a SaaS product, delivering a refined process flow to create a seamless user experience and drive user upgrades to the paid platform.

  • Designed a novel video survey platform.

    • I worked closely with stakeholders and engineers to validate ideas and feasibility to align our work with sprint capacity, and known needs.

    • There was a strong focus on accessibility - with a wide range of users the product interactions needed to be usable by individuals (mobile, non-native English speakers, low tech users, low bandwidth situations, as well establish trust with the user right away.)

    • Complex user flows with many branches depending on user actions.

    • Created a product roadmap to aid stakeholders in future funding discussions.

I'm currently studying front-end development, focusing on HTML, CSS, JS, and Python. My goal is to implement my designs, and to take on a more comprehensive and strategic design role.

What it’s like to work with me!

My colleagues have described as, “a great communicator and collaborator both internally and client facing.”

and

“thoughtful in her approach to each new problem, thinking through all aspects (such as accessibility) to execute designs in complex ecosystems.”

I think it’s because of my ability to ask insightful questions and push for minimum-viable solutions during the design process. By deeply analyzing user feedback, drawing inspiration from patterns used in other industries, and an exploring hypothetical scenarios, I empower myself and my team to gain a deeper understanding of complex situations.

By focusing on minimum-viable solutions, I ensure that our creative ideas are streamlined and practical, allowing the team to strike a balance between future design directions and immediate business needs.

“Mercedes was amazing! She spent so much time on this project working with us by assessing our needs, offering practical strategies, and building a roadmap for website redevelopment. I cannot speak highly enough about her level of professionalism, patience, and wealth of knowledge. It was just such a pleasure working with her. Highly recommended!”

Things I like!

  • I like long, human-powered activity like bike touring, backpacking and running - because I’m fascinated with what we are capable of.

  • I like reading, mostly memoir - because I like learning about other people, in their own words.
